Bonyari Band

November3

The Bonyari Japanese Travelling Band once again came down to KL to charm us with their music. I loved them the first time they were here. Even had them perform at Laundry Bar and the second time around it’s no different! They have a lot of new music this time around and are charming as ever.

They performed at Palate Palette on Divali eve, last Sunday. If you see them performing on the streets don’t forget to give them a donation – though I’m sure you’ll do it anyways as they’re awesome!

A little bit of Colourama!

October12

This is a lot brilliant!

Music, visual, trend, fashion and design in one place! The concept is 8-bit (1982-1990 era); and in particular the graphics architectures, algorithms and techniques being employed at that time in computer games (gameboy, atari, etc). We will play with lighting and a lot of colours | combine with visual & music throughout the event!

Go check out their website and check out the youtube videos they have there. I’m really excited about this event. It’s a little bit like, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” – except for the blue part.

I’ve always wondered why people didn’t start remixing music from the Atari and Gameboy games (well, mostly because it sounds a lot like the music from feng tau clubs in Cheras but way cooler) and here it is! Colourama!

Brilliant!

Check out their website for more details and support this gig! It should be full of oldnew creative fun!

Black and White Fest

September21

On Friday I also went for the launch of the Black and White Fest at The Annexe. Here’s a short excerpt I took from The Annexe website:

The Annexe Gallery is presenting the Black & White Fest, a mini multi-arts festival happening from Fri 19 Sep to Mon 5 Oct featuring: Diversity ~ a black & white photography exhibition by ten Malaysian photographers including Alex Moh, Bernice Chauly and our own golden boy Pang Khee Teik; Wayang Kita-Kita ~ an exhibition of posters of film stills from early Malay movies by Amir Muhammad and Liza Manshoor; and Constitutional Amendments ~ an interactive text installation by the Centre for Independent Journalism about the 600 amendments that have been made to the Malaysian constitution since 1957.

Met Peter there and also debuted my new hair.

Ha ha!

On a whim I decided to dye it blond. Lets see how long that lasts! Anyway, the exhibition was interesting but I only stayed a while before leaving for Lapsap at Palate Palette.
